As Glasgow prepares for Her Majesty The Queen kicking off the Commonwealth Games on Wednesday, the dark underbelly of Irish Republicanism is at work just a matter of yards down London Road from Celtic Park.
With immaculate timing, Glasgow City Council has taken steps to close one Republican slop house, by the name of 'The Foggy Dew'.
In an unprecedented move the pub has been the first one to be closed immediately under new licencing laws.
This dark side of town has been allowed in recent years to evolve from a downmarket but diverse area, to a gutter level Irish Republican theme park, under the auspices of Glasgow City Council, with several Republican bars masquerading as Celtic pubs, and one particularly vile I.R.A. shop promoting the 'work' of Irish Republican killers.
You would think that those in this ghetto would at least be cordial to each other, but reports over violence and sectarianism in this area are rife.
Despite the odd report about this or that bar being subject to Police enquiry or closure, the whole area remains a stain on Glasgow.
The latest report concerns a pub called 'The Foggy Dew' within the Barras. This slop house became infamous when it staged an impromptu Republican march to celebrate the death of former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, with the pro-I.R.A. band 'Shebeen'.
Now, like fellow slop house 'Baird's', which was closed by Glasgow City Council following pressure from the Police last year, the Foggy Dew has closed.
Some people may think that is the end of the story. I disagree.
'The Foggy Dew' Chromecast edge chromium. is named after what some would call an Irish ballad, while the lyrics actually challenge Irish soldiers joining the British forces to fight in WW1, and ask them to instead join the I.R.A. fight against the British.
As for the pub, the Evening Times report of the closure was illuminating:

The Company named as running the pub was named as 'East End Catering', which appears to be a long-standing company of Barras owner Victor Cairns, with fellow Directors Edward and Margaret-Mary Williams of Cambusnethan near Wishaw.
Quite how this arrangement works is anyone's guess, with Ms Williams denying all knowledge of involvement with the pub, and Mr Cairns owning the Barras rather than just the pub:

What was most odd about the Evening Times report was that the 'Designated Premises Manager' named as Lloyd Ingram by East End Catering, is in fact a Branch Manager of the Royal Bank of Scotland. Furthermore, the branch he manages (Giffnock) is where the bank account of The Rangers Assembly (who hold the Rangers Fans Fighting Fund money) is held.
How could he possibly be named as the designated premises manager of this I.R.A. pub? Is it so easy being a Bank Manager now that you can also manage a pub full time, or is it actually accurate that Ingram junior is actually a front for someone else? Is the pub actually managed by his father Eddie Ingram, of the 'Vol. Sean Mcilvenna Republican Flute Band'? If this is the case, why can't Eddie be the licensee?
Do the Royal Bank of Scotland know of Lloyd Ingram's activity, and condone it? Does the tax man know?

Lloyd Ingram, who uses the Twitter handle @lloydRBS communicates regularly on Twitter with Gerry Carlile, the republican owner of both 'The Light' nightclub in Glasgow and 'The Rock Bar' in Belfast. Carlile also acts as agent for Celtic's leading I.R.A. supporter Anthony Stokes. It's worth noting that by looking through Lloyd Ingram's tweets you will notice his handle has been recently changed from @lloydVSM to @lloydRBS, presumably as he, or someone at the Bank thought it unwise for an RBS branch manager to be promoting a terrorist so openly.
While Vanguard Bears are happy to see another Republican slop house closed, it raises more questions than answers, and Glasgow City Council need to look at not just one pub, but the rest of the Barrowlands area.
If the Labour-led Glasgow City Council can't or won't address this issue, then it's Glasgow City Council who should be getting investigated.
The list of questionable behaviours by Glasgow City Council is mounting..
